Again pretty big difference with the prices in Europe, with todays exchange rate still from 100 euro up to 180 euro cheaper in Thailand!! So I will buy my new iPad 2 in Thailand again when I go in November (same I did last year )….Happy days :D

The 32 GB WiFi model is actually 700 baht cheaper in Thailand than in Arizona USA, when you add in local sales tax.

Sounds interesting but where did you get the information? I can’t find any official statement where they would talk about release date in Thailand. Also there’s no official information yet about release date in Singapore where the iPad 2 should be launched before Thailand (or perhaps at the same time if Thailand is one of those “additional countries”) — source: http://www.apple.com/pr/

The source is reliable but as you say it hasn’t been announced by Apple yet. From what I learned, the iPad 2 is expected to be sold at iStudio first with the launch being done at Siam Discovery. I was really hoping to have a second source by now but nothing. From what I can tell, this news has not affected the prices at MBK yet. Although we don’t have any news from Apple yet, I would still hesitate before buying in the grey market.

    Thanks for the info :)

This will settle it then, I’m gonna wait for the official release and fight for my piece on the launch day.

Left my email at one of IT stores and was told I would be notified when it is out. I think I will buy the IPAD II in June as it looks like it will be here in May. Gray market is out of the question no way would I pay that much. If you are rich then go for it.

Just Pre order it at the thai online apple store once that’s possible.

iPad2 is sold out world wide so getting it from a store won’t be possible for a while. I imagine there will be touts camping out the shops, buying iPads, then turning around and selling them for a 1000 – 2000 baht profit, same thing that happened in china.

I ordered mine in the us apple store as soon as they started selling it and got it a week later… Now there’s a 3 week wait…

Thanks Richard. Fingers crossed that I’ll be able to get one on time. Any tips for getting ahead of the crowds?

Does anyone know how they launched the Ipad in Thailand last year?
Were they only sold at the Istudios and Apple site?
Did people get there early to wait in Line?

If this is true it’s so amazing. I’m Thai but now in California. Ipad2 16g wifi is 542$ include tax already(8.375%). So it’s about 16800 Thai baht. Tha price that shown is the price that was include tax so u don’t have to Plus tax.

I’ve been testing it in shops in Bangkok all weekend. It’s definitely here, but you have to order and wait till the stock arrives. Salespeople are saying that they expect stock next week.

Are there any issues with buying an ipad in Thailand and using it both in Thailand and in Europe, i.e. Sim differences, compatibility issues
